Roger O. Lorts

January 31, 1931 – October 16, 2025

Roger O. Lorts, 94, of Queen Creek, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Born on January 31, 1931, in Roxana, Illinois, he was the son of Fred and Lillian Lorts.

Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was defined by love, resilience, and quiet strength. He shared seventy-two wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gloria, who survives him. Together, they built a legacy of family and faith that continues through their children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Gloria; his son Roger Lorts of Phoenix, Arizona; daughters Nancy Instone of Mesa, Arizona, and Dawn Underhill of Brighton, Illinois; eight grandchildren; Michael A. Lorts (Laura), Jennifer Nelson, Brandon Instone, Cori Lorts, Tara Instone, Ashley Underhill, Mark Underhill and Aimee Turner (Leon), eight great-grandchildren; Rylee, MaKenzie, Austyn, Aethon, Liam, Leland, Nora and Benjamin: his brother Michael of East Alton, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by two sons, Mark, and Terry; his parents; three brothers—Paul, Fred, and Robert (Cleo) Lorts; and three sisters—Mary Bock, Naomi Latham, and Viola Barker.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held October 30th, 3:00 pm at Ironwood Church, 8635 East Pecos Rd., Mesa, AZ.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the American Heart Association.
