Roger's obituary
Roger L. Jensen, age 93, died on August 19, 2024. He was an artist, interior designer, gardener, and animal enthusiast. Born in Ludington, Michigan, Roger made his home in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from St. Louis High School and attended Chicago Institute of Arts. He then served four years in the U.S. Naval Service in Japan and Kodiak, Alaska before attending Pratt Institute with a scholarship from the Willam Morris Foundation.
Roger flourished as a designer in New York; working as Director of Interior Design with Edward Durell Stone on projects including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Costume Institute Of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tupperware World Headquarters, Eisenhower Medical Center, multiple hotels and conference centers, racetracks, the Florida State Capital Building and private residences across the United States. He designed interiors for nine resort hotels in Yugoslavia, apartments and villas in Venezuela, Saudi Arabia and Iran, Curaçao and the Presidential Estate in Pakistan. He has original rug, textile, graphic and furniture designs with V'Soske, Rowen, Inc., Squibb and Lieb & Meyer.
Roger loved his Clinton Hill neighborhood; he was known to care for stray animals and helped implement the Pratt Community Garden where he enjoyed tending to the gardens during retirement.
Roger has joined his parents Victoria (Petersen) and Rasmus Jensen at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington, MI. Preceded in death by his brothers; Robert Clarence Jensen, Richard Lee, Jack Julius and his sister Julia Marie (Milford G Peacock). He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
