It is with heavy hearts that the family of Roger Allan Dadey announce his passing on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the Rockyview Hospital.

Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years this November, Alice Dadey (nee Silbernagel);children, Corinne Chaloner (Kevin), Greg Dadey (Sandra), Cheryl Ast (Tyler); granddaughter, Chantelle; his Grand puppy, Levi, whom he loved so much. Cheryl will miss his daily phone call asking, “How HIS dog was?”eart

Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years this November, Alice Dadey (nee Silbernagel);children, Corinne Chaloner (Kevin), Greg Dadey (Sandra), Cheryl Ast (Tyler); granddaughter, Chantelle; his Grand puppy, Levi, whom he loved so much. Cheryl will miss his daily phone call asking, “How HIS dog was?”

Roger leaves behind his younger sister, Linda Dadey-Stratmann (Gary – predeceased). Roger and Linda tragically lost their mother Rosalene Stadnyk (nee Dadey) when they were only 9 and 7. They were adopted by their Uncle Stan & Doris Dadey (predeceased) and were brought to Calgary, AB, to live with their cousins (Brian & Dwight).

Roger is now reunited with his many loved ones including Cheryl’s husband Dave Ast.

There are many nieces, nephews, family members and great friends that he made over the years that will miss his wonderful smile and great laugh.

Roger was a City of Calgary bus driver for 36 years, and was a proud member of Local 583 Transit Union. He attended the Retirees banquet yearly and enjoyed catching up with old work colleagues.

Roger had MANY jobs before the transit and joked that he could not remember them all. When he was a paper boy, he met his future wife, Alice. He tried his hand at many jobs, a shoeshine boy (which he lasted 1 day), a milk man, delivering Pepsi, casino dealer, office cleaning with wife & kids in tow… just to name a few. After retiring, Roger marshalled at a golf course, (though we think he spent more time looking for golf balls) and worked for a short period at Westjet.

He enjoyed playing hockey and was a loyal supporter of his Montreal Canadiens. Lots will remember Roger’s joy of playing league pool, even advancing to tournaments in Vegas. He also enjoyed playing golf. Roger’s love of music even extended to him being a DJ. He was competitive at crib with Alice, boosting and keeping track of his wins on the calendar.

Roger was a perfectionist, right down to every blade of grass on his lawn or the hair on his head, which we are sure he brushed at least 100 strokes. He smelled amazing and went thru a lot of Allure Sport Cologne.

Above all he loved his food. He was barely done breakfast and would be asking what was for lunch or supper.

Anyone who dined with him will remember how he was a Klepto/hoarder of napkins.

Thru the years, everyone gave him a rough time about his “man bag”, but if anyone needed something, we are sure it was in there.

Since Roger lost his leg to complications with diabetes, he came to enjoy his 2 days a week at Sarcee C3. Our family is eternally grateful to all the staff for their exemplary care over the past 2 years, especially at the end. Their care and support they gave Roger, and our family was indescribable. They were our Angels. He made many great friends at C3.

Honoring Roger's wishes there will be a Celebration of Life on Monday, December 11th. His family and friends are invited to join an OPEN HOUSE from 1:00 -7:00 pm.
