Roger's obituary

On May 10th, 1960, our family was blessed with the birth of a kind, loving and thoughtful man, Roger Alan Beeman in Murray, Utah.

He left us behind on July 29th, 2023, at Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden UT, due to multiple health concerns, which included cardiac arrest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine (Wimmer Kleis Beeman Rasmussen) Willard and William “Bill” Beeman, along with his siblings, Ralph Beeman, William (Randy) Beeman, Billy Jo Beeman, Barbara (Kleis) Baker and Victoria (Kleis Mulder) Beck. He is survived by his wife, Sherry (Herd) Beeman, his brother-in-law William (Billy) Herd, his stepson Antonio Reyes, his stepdaughters Tessa Ruiz and Cheyanne Reyes, his stepsister Lynn Rasmussen-Reynolds and a very large, loving extended family.

Roger attended Ontonagon Area High School in his youth, some of the happiest memories that he shared with his niece from his youth, were from playing the tight end position on his hometown football team. He enjoyed watching football for the rest of his life and enjoyed watching baseball with his wife Sherry.

After leaving Ontonagon, Roger loved to travel and took great pride in his work for Skerbeck Entertainment Group for most of his life, where he set up, ran, and repaired carnival rides that brought smiles to countless children in the lower 48 states. Roger took great pride in his work and was proud to say that a child was never injured on a machine that he serviced. He also said that his great happiness in his work was to see families enjoying a weekend together and he was glad that his work played a part in that happiness.

He married his beloved Sherry on May 20th of 2006, and for years did freelance home renovation work and roofing around the Ogden UT area, until changes in his health led to disability. It was at this time that he and Sherry attended Church together, most frequently Elim Lutheran in Ogden.

Later, when he was a nursing home resident with his wife at Mountain View Health Services nursing home in Ogden, nursing facility staff reported that Roger often would point out areas that needed to be repaired in the building, for which the maintenance staff were grateful. He also enjoyed gardening and cared for some of the plants at the facility including fresh tomatoes which were his favorite thing to eat, except for pizza.

His wife Sherry was glad to talk about their life together as residents at Mountain View, as her health challenges were numerous, and she was grateful that she and Roger could be in a room together, to continue caring for one another in addition to the staff caring for them.

Their family dog, Millie, came to visit Mountain View, which delighted the residents and staff of the facility, brought by their good friend Savannah who, with a generous heart, assumed care of their beloved pet after their admission to Mountain View.
