Rodwell's obituary
Rodwell Leon Gilbert was born on July 2, 1958, on the island of Bimini in the Bahamas, to the late Ethel Charlton and Wellington Gilbert. He spent his early years in Bimini, where he was raised and formed many of the memories he would carry throughout his life.
As a teenager, Rodwell moved to Nassau, Bahamas, where he attended middle school and often shared stories of working in his father’s flower shop—experiences that reflected both his strong work ethic and his connection to family. He later relocated to South Florida to complete his education and remained there for the rest of his life.
Throughout his life, Rodwell worked in several industries, but he was most proud of his work in the healthcare field, where he served as a certified caregiver to the disabled and the elderly. In this role, he demonstrated compassion, patience, and a quiet strength, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those he cared for.
Rodwell was a man of intelligence and depth—astute, creative, and truly a free spirit. He possessed a sharp wit and a thoughtful nature, often seeing the world from a perspective uniquely his own.
He is survived by his son, Ryan; his daughter, Brittany; Diedrie Gilbert; his beloved Aunt Rozelda Flowers; and a large extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will continue to cherish his memory.
