Rodney's obituary

Rodney Dale Swanson passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2021 in Marysville at Rideout Hospital. He was born on October 9, 1951 in Victorville, California at George AFB to his parents Walter 'Dale' and Rosalyn.

Rodney was raised mostly in Gridley, where he graduated from Gridley High School - Class of 1970. After high school, Rodney moved out and headed to the Reno area where he met and married his beloved wife, Debbie. Shortly after marrying, the couple returned to the Gridley area where Rodney went to work alongside his parents at Continental Athletic Supply, the family business. In his free time, Rodney loved tinkering with and repairing computers. This led him to opening a computer business part-time while he continued to work the family business. It was his love of computers and his heart to serve others that drew him to leave his job at CAS and return to his mobile repair business, The Computer Works, full-time. He loved and was loved and appreciated greatly by his many loyal customers that he had created relationship with over the 35 years he was in business. Rodney enjoyed cooking and creating new recipes, golfing with his high school buddies and spending valuable quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He especially loved watching them participate in a variety of different sports and was always on the sidelines rooting them on for the win!

He was preceeded in death by his grandparents, Victor (Bonnie) Swanson and Don (Lillian) Segur. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debbie Swanson of Gridley, son Steven (Rae) Swanson of Biggs, daughter Amanda (Daniel Davis) Swanson of Oroville, five grandchildren Brian Swanson of Chico, Steven Swanson of Gridley, Sierrah Swanson, Rodney Dean Swanson, and Raeven Swanson - all of Biggs, as well as his parents Dale (Judy) Swanson of Gridley, Rosalyn (Mose) Mastelotto of Oroville, and brother Michael Swanson of North Carolina.

Rodney was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

The family has chosen to host a Celebration of Life for Rodney on Friday May 7, 2021. Please find the event page for his celebration on the EverLoved.com memorial page link. RSVP highly requested as a light lunch will be served and a guest count will be needed.
