Rod, while I kidded you about being a "puddle pirate" and "shallow water sailor", you took the ribbing in stride, along with comments about entrance height requirements for the CG. You knew it was all in fun from one vet to another. I never once doubted your loyalty to the Coast Guard, your fellow veterans or the U.S.A. You wore your USCG Retired ball cap with never ending pride. Its sad that I had to read your obituary to find out all the incredible things you did in the community, which you never once gloated or thumped your chest over. The world was blessed with you in it, Rod. I wish only "fair winds and following seas" for you shipmate.
My family lived around the corner in Pittsford and growing up I remember my father and Rod visiting, me frequently in tow. I remember him as Town Constable and how he as always so light hearted and social, joking with me and making me smile. My condolences to your family for your loss. He was a very sweet man!

So sorry for the loss of Rod. He was well loved at the Pittsford Congregational UCC Church. As pastor I truly appreciated all he did. He has been missed but never forgotten since moving to Maine. May God surround you all in his peace and comfort as you go through the days and weeks ahead.
Pat, Debra, Suzie and family
We will always remember the great times we had in Port Clyde while Joe was stationed at the Marshall Point Light. It was wonderful to have reconnected and share these memories in the past few months. I think of sympathy as many hearts sharing one sorrow. This is definitely true with Joe. We think of you now and share this loss with you.
I will forever know Rodney as “Mr. Drown”, the steady and stable presence in my life as a child who was always around to help out in times of crisis, since my own father was not. What a great dad and a great man. So sorry for your loss, Debby, Suzy, Mrs. Drown and family.
