Robin's obituary
Robin was born on 18th June, 1937, to George Herbert Baxter and Gwendolen Lucy Baxter in Ealing, London. After attending Aldenham School, he went on to study Classics at New College, Oxford.
He spent most of his working life as a chartered accountant at Whinney, Smith and Whinney, which ultimately became Ernst & Young. In the late 1960s, he met Stephanie Nichols, and they wed in 1976, going on to have 2 children, Caroline and Peter.
Robin was a steadfast and faithful man, determined to provide for his wife and children. His family meant more to him than anything else, something that was reflected in how he spent his time. He was unendingly proud of Caroline and Peter and always tried his best to support them. As a family they spent many happy holidays in France, and in retirement Robin and Stephanie took up cruising to continue their love of travel.
Robin was passionate about music, particularly classical and jazz, and was a keen jazz pianist. He often combined listening to music with his other hobby of crosswords. He could usually be found solving the fiendish Listener crossword while listening to music on Saturday afternoons. He had 19 of his own Listener puzzles published.
A quiet, private man in many ways, anyone who knew Robin knew that he was the most loyal father and husband a family could ask for. Robin was predeceased by wife Stephanie, brother Michael, and his parents. He is survived by his children Caroline and Peter, and grandchildren Sofia, Becky, Ellie, Andrew, and Lauren.
