Roberto's obituary

We mourn the loss of Roberto Rodriguez Gonzalez, who passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2025. He is survived by his loving partner, Alma Pacheco; his daughters, Nenny and Yaika; his siblings, Carlos, Chago, Ruth, Gabriel, and Marlen; and countless family and friends who cherished him.

Born in Jalisco, Mexico, Roberto moved to the United States in 1974, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and joy. He spent his youth, adulthood, and final moments in the family home in Rosemead, leaving behind a legacy tied to the community he loved. Alongside his siblings, he attended Willard Elementary, Fern (later Temple) Middle School, and San Gabriel High School—a tradition proudly continued by his daughters, born in 2001 and 2006, whom he considered his greatest pride.

A dedicated driver for Umina Bros since 2006, Roberto was known for his unshakable work ethic and loyalty. But beyond his profession, he was a man who found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He bonded with his youngest daughter over episodes of Counting Cars and Car Masters, sparking a shared passion for F1 racing (and their fierce loyalty to Red Bull Racing). The Fast & Furious and Transformers franchises held a special place in his heart—proof of his love for speed, adventure, and a little chaos.

Roberto’s playful spirit shone through in everything he did. He loved sending funny Instagram reels, sharing music, DJing, and tinkering with computers. His home was a testament to his eclectic taste, filled with speakers, DJ equipment, CDs, and records spanning genres—though Banda and Cumbias always got him moving. Certain tracks became family legends: "California Love" and "Boyz-N-The-Hood" for the classics, "Cuéntame Tus Penas" (to make baby Nenny cry), "Qué Buen Hombre Te Tocó" (to tease Alma), and "Estoy Enamorada" (to confuse baby Yaika)—each song carrying a memory and a laugh.

Stubborn, witty, and endlessly contrary, Roberto lived with a boldness that left an impression on everyone he met. His dark humor, sarcastic one-liners, and relentless teasing were trademarks of his love. Above all, he will be remembered for his devotion to family, his unwavering grit, and the soundtrack of music and laughter he gifted those around him.

We will miss his voice, his jokes, and the rhythm he brought to our lives—but his legacy lives on in the stories we share and the love he planted in our hearts.
