Roberta's obituary
Roberta is survived by her husband, best friend and soulmate, Ronald Hess and his adult children, Alex, Gillian and Ben. She was the loving daughter of John “Jack” Swartz (Susan) Metuchen, NJ and Joy Marshall (Steven) West Lafayette, IN. Roberta is also survived by her loving brother, Kevin Swartz (Heather) and their son, Tyler, Roberta’s “Little Monkey”, Doylestown, PA. Additionally, she was blessed by having special relationships with her Aunt Alice Swartz—Sister of Mercy, her Aunt Lyn Liesch (Bob), stepbrother Joshua Ringle (Ellen), and stepsister Kate Bluvol (David). She was blessed by and shared a great love for all of her family including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins: Aunt Nan (Richie), Rick (Jeanne), Laura (Paul), Mari (Dennis), Christian (Dave), Morgan, Tim (Jessica), Amy (Mark), Sam, Alex, Matt, Brian, Julie, and so many friends.
Roberta was born on June 23rd, 1969 in Plainfield, NJ and graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School. Roberta earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from Marywood University. She was actively working on her capstone class, which was her final milestone for her Masters’ Degree at Southern New Hampshire University for a degree in E-learning Instructional Design.
Roberta married Ronald Hess in 2015 and together, they created their family. Ron was her person that she knew loved, understood and cared for her without boundaries. Roberta once said, it was amazing how much they could say, without saying anything at all. Their relationship was about crazy times, laughter, their pet pig, emotional support, love and believing in one another.
Roberta was the apple of her father’s eye and her mom’s best friend. She was passionate about her family and friends, her community and life in general. Roberta loved to spend time with family and friends, loved to travel, had a zest for creativity of all sorts, and enjoyed cooking simply and well, a glass of wine, a good book, walking a farmers market, strolling through small towns and antique stores, and quiet moments. Her greatest talent was her ability to help others become the best version of their own self. She had the ability to network with her family and friends so that the lines crossed and they all became one.
