Robert's obituary

Robert Thomas Wirth, known as Bob or Bobby to his friends and family passed away in San Juan, Philippines on July 31, 2005 after an extended illness. Bob suffered a stroke in 1992 and was cared for by his loving brother Walter for 13 years prior to his death.

Before suffering the stroke that would change his life, Bob had many interests. He was an accomplished business man, golfer and musician. He was the drummer in the band Petrified Anthem which was formed with his older brother Walter and younger brother John. Petrified Anthem achieved significant success and airplay in the Philippines and was one of the joys of Bob's short life.

Bob was born in New York and lived in the U.S. until his parents moved the entire family to the Philippines in 1964. He and his brothers began playing golf shortly after their move and he soon became one of the best in his age group and won many tournaments and awards for his talent. In the 1970's his passion turned to music and while already a talented guitar player he switched to drums to help create the nucleus of Petrified Anthem along with his brothers, Walter and John. This became his passion for most of that decade.

In the late 1970s and through the 1980s he switched his attention to business and moved to Sri Lanka to start an apparel sourcing and quality control business. He was later joined there by his brothers Walter and Tom. While Sri Lanka was his business location he and the other brothers continued to return to the Philippines where his parents still resided. When his parent's passed in 1986 and 1989 he and Walter returned to the Philippines where they began a successful business there. Unfortunately in 1992 his health took an unexpected turn when he suffered the stroke that eventually resulted in his passing some 13 years later.

He is survived by his brothers, Walter, John and Tom and John's wife Eleanor. No service is planned at this point. He was cremated, consistent with his wishes and will eventually be returned to the United States where his story began to join his parents Wally and Ruth.
