Robert's obituary
Robert "Pop Pop" Wilbur, 84, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on December 27, 2022.
Robert was born on the sixth of September, 1938 to Leroy and Thelma Wilbur in Baltimore, MD and grew up on Gibson Island. After graduating from Friends School in 1956, he went on to study Geology at Washington & Lee University and graduated in 1960. After college, he was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and served as Artillery Officer. Bob left the Army in 1962 to pursue an MBA at the Wharton School of Business. After graduation, he landed his first job as a Finance executive for DuPont.
At age ten, Bob met his future wife, Nancy Aufhammer, and they wed in 1960. Bob and Nancy have three children, Tammy, David, and Chris. Bob was a wonderfully complex individual, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. Robert was also passionate about playing cards, Words with Friends, fishing, golf, hunting, racquetball/squash and his grandchildren. Bob could often be found early in the morning exercising in the gym. Anyone who knew Robert knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.
