Robert's obituary
Bob was born on February 5, 1954, in Hollywood, CA to his parents Robert & Tomi Martin. Bob graduated from Granite Hills High School in 1972, received an Associate’s degree from Grossmont College, and continued on to study at San Diego State University and National University, earning a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 1978.
Bob enlisted in the US Navy and became an expert pilot; stationed at multiple locations around the globe including Texas, Minnesota, Hawaii, Japan, & the Philippines. Bob famously flew a rescue mission in Guam, flying through an erupting volcano to save a group of people trapped in their village.
After completing his service with the Navy, Bob became a commercial pilot with Northwest Airlines and later taught machining, metal fabrication, and welding with the Grossmont Union High School District.
Bob’s closest family and friends often considered him a genius which was evident considering his many hobbies that included but were not limited to: making custom jewelry, building/flying drones and model airplanes, building computers, collecting and playing guitars, and working on cars. Bob also loved the outdoors- going to the beach for bonfires and mountain biking.
He is survived by his only child, Justin Tuazon-Martin, and his sister, Diana Gail Morton.
A memorial burial service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA on February 4, 2022, at 10 AM with a Celebration of Life Reception to follow. To RSVP to attend in-person and/or if you have any photos of Bob to share with the family, please email: RobertWMartinMemorial22@gmail…
