Robert's obituary

Robert “Bob” Thomas Smith, 57, died on August 15, 2020 in his home in Plano, Texas. At his request, no service will be held.

Bob was born on October 16, 1962 to Margaret and Norman Smith in Tucson, AZ. He grew up in Glenwood, Iowa and attended Glenwood Senior High where he met and married his wife Shawn with whom he had three daughters. They divorced in 1996.

He served three years in the United States Air Force. Bob lived and worked in Arizona, New Mexico, Maryland, and Georgia before settling in Plano, Texas in 2004.

He spent decades working in real estate tax service for the companies Transamerica, ZC Sterling, and Black Knight. Bob loved his work and often regaled friends and strangers with tales from his career.

Outside of work, he enjoyed gardening, building computers, being a grill master, researching gadgets, analysing most situations, getting out of grocery stores in record time, purchasing and putting up the most Christmas lights, and holding a semi-successful winning streak against family members in the video game Tekken. Most of all, Bob loved to meet and talk with people. His stories will be long-remembered by multitudes of family members and acquaintances for their dry humor, recollection of detail, and affability.

Bob is survived by his mother Margaret Seginski and father and step-mother Norman and Kathie Smith; his daughters, Kara Smith, Alison Smith, and Rebecca Smith; his two brothers and their spouses, Paul and Elaine Smith and Norm and Liza Smith; and five nephews and one niece.
