Robert (Bob) Thomas Estes passed away on November 10th, 2024, just 11 days after his 71st birthday. Bob was a wonderful man who loved his family and friends. He was never in short supply of good stories and he always appreciated the moment. His journey started in Rochester, Minnesota when he was born a few minutes after his best friend (and identical twin) Ken. The boys were the 2nd and 3rd in what would be 5 Estes children (Dave, Ken, Bob, John, and Holly) to Hugh and Mickie Estes. The Estes family moved to Houston, Texas for short stint before finally settling in Tucson, Arizona. Bob's childhood was full of adventures; forts, treehouses, makeshift cannons, and many other entertaining stories that any Estes would be happy to regale. Bob graduated from Saguaro High School in 1971 and then attended Northern Arizona University where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science. Bob married Eileen Donohue in 1976 and they had two children; Dan and Katie. Bob and Eileen divorced in 1994. Bob married the love of his life, Sandy Bacon, in 1996. Bob and Sandy had a wonderful marriage full of love and fun times shared with family and friends. Throughout his life, Bob was a joy to be around. Always the jokester, he approached life with comedy in mind and a great story to tell. Impersonations of famous actors was a past time of his (think John Wayne in old Westerns, and Marlon Brando in 'The Godfather'). In his professional life he worked diligently for APS, Dames and Moore, CH2MHill, URS and AEcom as an environmental consultant. Bob enjoyed the friendships he built with coworkers and clients over the years. His work brought him personal satisfaction, the opportunity to meet interesting people, and the ability to drive his truck all over the southwest US. Bob always found people interesting and loved hearing their life stories. In 2016 Bob retired and hung up his hard hat. Sandy and Bob enjoyed the retired life and spent more time with family and friends. And they were always ones to enjoy a small western or mountain town across the southwest US. Bob was a character, a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, a friend ... and he's unforgettable. We will miss his jokes, his calm demeanor, and his endless love that he gave to his family and friends. He may have departed this life, but he lives on strongly in our hearts and our memories. God bless you, Bob. Until we meet again, sweet man.
