Robert's obituary
Born in Atlanta, Georgia to Robert Tate Miller Sr. and Marilyn McDonald Miller, Robert was raised in the North Carolina mountain town of Hendersonville, where he and his sister Kay built fond memories growing up around the family-owned Bonaire Motel. He graduated from East Henderson High School and attended the University of Georgia where he received a journalism degree and remained a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan. After college, Robert worked as a studio cameraman, a game show producer and as a promotions writer/producer.
He is best known in the entertainment industry as a talented screenwriter, bringing us heartwarming and uplifting Hallmark, ABC and CBS Christmas movies, including the fan favorites Three Days and Christmas Cookies. Aside from his screenwriting career, Robert Tate Miller is an accomplished author, writing six books and having several essays and articles published in Reader's Digest, The Christian Science Monitor and in several of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. He was also a beloved former member of the faculty of Berkeley Hall in Los Angeles. A lifelong Christian Scientist, he recently moved to Boston, MA to serve as Administrator of The Mother Church.
Robert Tate Miller (Rob) is survived by his cherished sister Kay Shook, beloved brother-in-law Ron and his precious niece Breanna. He is also survived by his loving Uncle Grant and Aunt Liane and his sweet cousins, Chere Urgo and Scott MacDonald. Additionally, he’s remembered adoringly by his ex-wife Gina, his stepdaughter Chloe O’Shannon and her darling son Colin, who Rob cherished! All are deeply affected by his passing, and they love him very much.
Rob was an amazing person loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by family and dear friends, but we know he would want us to assure everyone that his eternal journey continues, always supported, guided, and governed by divine Love and Life. Affirmative prayers for his new experience and forward progress in Spirit will be greatly appreciated!
