I was saddened when I heard the news of Bob's passing. My Maternal Grandfather conveyed messages of concern for human and soil health in letters that he sent to my mother after he left his SW Minnesota farm during the 1930's. Bob's enthusiasm inspired me to actively follow Grandpa's ideas with in-person encouragement to mix academic and research at Iowa State University with my farm operation and to meet many leaders who advocated better soil nutrition and human diets. My condolence is extended to Carole who will need God's hand to meet the challenges ahead. May the peace of Christ be with her and the family!
My condolences to all family , Bob was great friend and lot of passion in agriculture. We had been Many times together in Brazil and US. Last Year we shared news about soybean disease. Hard to imagine He is passed away. God Comfort the family in this difficult time.
Sincere sympathy on the loss of your Dad. He always like to talk about his work and the interesting people he met along the way. He will be with you always in your heart.
My heartfelt condolences to the death of your beloved Dad whom I always loved to talk and listen to, who was so interested in what is happening in the world, around the corner and behind the mountain, who has been a visionary in agronomics, who was very interested and proud of his German heritage and who was just a great, fun and considerate guy to be with. I wish I could have spent so much more hours talking with him...
I will always remember Bob fondly as a hero who came to Hawaii to testify for bills to protect our communities from harm. His work in Hawaii and expertise across the world will not be forgotten, he has helped many farmers and shared a lot of agricultural knowledge with the world. He was a kind, gentle, wonderful genius and a gentleman who will be missed. My deepest condolences to Carol and his beautiful family.
