Robert Lee Smith entered God's arms on September 17, 2019. His life was filled with the love he showed and received from everyone he knew. Robert Lee Smith was born to Willie Leonard and Fannie Smith on March 16, 1938, in Montgomery, Alabama. Robert, married Elnora Williams in 1964, no children were born. In 1970, Robert and Jewell G. Scott had his only child, Denise G. Smith. Robert was a very special person in the childhood of Denise's siblings; Edward, Robert, Lester and Dennis Barrie, to whom he was affectionately know to them as "Big Robert". In 1971, is when he received Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was a member of Hyde Park Seventh Day Adventist Church in Chicago, Illinois. Later in life, he joined Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church in Chicago, Illinois until he retired in 1998 from Chicago Housing Authority of 34 years to Surprise, Arizona. Robert joined Beacon Light Seventh Day Adventist Church in Phoenix Arizona, where he remained under the leadership of Pastor Hamilton Williams. He was humble to the core, yet a giant in ways that took nothing for himself and gave God all the praise. Faithful by nature, a passionate man, whose heart was directed by God's own hand. He was known for his love of sports. He found great enjoyment in being entertained with Football, Basketball, Baseball, Tennis and Gold. His favorite teams were the Alabama Crimson Tide, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and the Chicago White Sox. Serena & Venice Williams were his favorite Tennis Players. He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Denise G. Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada, 1 sister, Conzella Womack of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and 1 brother, Victor Smith of Chicago, Illinois. He has a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends in Alabama, Illinois, Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and California. Robert has two very dedicated friends whom loved him like a dad and he was affectionately known to them as "Pop Smith", Russell Bradford and Barbara Bradford of Surprise, Arizona. Also Bill King and Vivian King, who sold Robert his beautiful home. Otis Mitchell, a friend he met at Beacon Light many years ago. McFarland Braff, a friend he worked with for many years at the Chicago Housing Authority.
