To Our Friends & Family,
First, we want to send our sincere condolences to you for the loss of your friend, our Brother & Uncle. This sudden loss has been painful to all that knew and loved Bob, Rob, Robert, RobBob, or even Bobby to some. He was a beautiful gift to all - and to know Bob, IS to love Bob <3
On behalf of the Scarpa Family, we want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for attending the memorial event held on Saturday, whether it was at the park (even for just a short period because of the rain), at the Queensboro, or virtually. It means so much to our family that you dedicated some of your time with us, to grief, to share memories, to share tears, and embrace for a hug. I think that we all needed this time together, and hope that you have found some comfort as well.
We heard so many wonderful stories about Bob. From his positivity and kindness, to his generosity, his unbelievable talent in the visual arts, his inclusivity of all lives (the people kind and the furry kind, too), his adoration for his neighborhood and saving the planet, and way too many comments on his humor for bodily functions! We heard stories of marvelous trips/shows he planned and took with friends, the beautiful pieces of work he created personally and professionally, memories from when Bob attended Parsons, his excitement and efforts made to cleaning up Jackson Heights, friendships and neighbors that turned into family, how he fought and advocated for groups/causes that mattered, how he changed peoples lives so that they can live their truth and be happy! Bob meant so much to so many, and we know that his spirit will continue to carry on. One comforting thought we might share is that Bob loved life in NY, especially his friends, his NY Family (his words!)! We appreciate the love, kindness, and happiness you brought into his world. We can confirm this because he talked about you at our family gatherings, would show us pictures, and he would literally glow while doing so! He was proud of his NY Life & Family!!
Bob was one of a kind, and a lot of who he was because of the NY Family he surrounded himself with. You are our family now. Thank you for being a part of his life. Thank you for sharing in our grief and being a part of the events on Saturday. We appreciate you, and hope that you will keep in touch. And thank you for your continued donations to the Jackson Heights Beautification Group!!
For now, we want to leave you with one: remember to spread kindness, joy, and laughter wherever you go. Be intentional with relationships, show compassion, and be conscious of our home here on earth. Plant a flower. Reduce and replace single-use products. Be a mentor. Look out for your neighbor. Donate your can tabs (for Ronald McDonald House collection). Tell people you love them. Keep posting memories on Everloved and share your stories. Bob took every opportunity and effort to make this earth a better place to live. Let's practice this and honor his memory each day!
Peace & Love! XO
