Bob's obituary
Robert “Bob” John Savoyski, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Wardsboro, VT on June 6, 2022 after a 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Born March 30, 1954 in Bridgeport CT, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Kuchar) Savoyski. Valedictorian of the Warren Harding High School class of 1972, Bob graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY with a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1977. While attending RPI, he met Lou Ann (Taft) Savoyski, his wife of 42 years. They were married on a humid May 3, 1980 in Troy, NY.
At the time of his death, Bob was employed remotely by Cartridge Actuated Devices in Fairfield, NJ. His long career in ordinance and energetics brought him and his family from Saugerties, NY to Chanhassen, MN, then Aurora, IL, and New Jersey. Working remotely during Covid allowed Bob to permanently reside in his beloved ski house in Wardsboro, VT until the time of his passing.
Bob and Lou Ann travelled widely but Bob’s preferred destinations were wild places, especially National Parks. The couple made a much anticipated return trip to Yosemite National Park just this past May to celebrate their anniversary. Bob was an avid photographer, leaving his loved ones with seemingly endless memories to look back on in the form of both digital and printed photos. A lover of the outdoors, Bob enjoyed tennis, camping, hiking as long as his knees allowed, and cross country and downhill skiing. A seasons pass holder at Mount Snow in Dover, VT, Bob enjoyed his final season of skiing through April of this year. Even if he could only endure a few runs, he subscribed to the philosophy that, “a bad day of skiing beats a good day at work, no matter how you look at it.”
Bob is survived by his wife, Lou Ann (Taft) Savoyski of Wardsboro, VT, daughter Julie Savoyski (Nidhi Modi) of Boston, MA, son Richard Savoyski (Dana Haley) of Andover, VT, granddaughters Meena and Premala Savoyski, sister Sharon Porto of Port Saint Lucie, FL, his beloved Aunt Mildred Frissora and cousins of CT, his brother and sister-in-law of Troy, NY and 3 nieces, lifelong framily member Robert Gabany of Washington DC, and wonderful friends from across the country.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday June 25, 2022 from 12pm-3pm at The Publyk House located at 782 Harwood Hill Rd, Bennington, VT 05201.
The family would like to thank Agnes Mikijaniec, NP and the staff at Brattleboro Oncology for their exceptional care.
