Bob's obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Sasser, a man known for his helpful and kind nature. Bob left us peacefully on April 8, 2024.

Bob was born on November 16, 1961 at the MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. After his father retired from the Air Force, the family moved to Nashville, Tennessee. Shortly after, his dad passed away. The family then moved to Ridgeway, Illinois before settling in Harrisburg, Illinois, where he grew up and attended school.

After school, he went on to join the US Army, and then began his lifelong career in construction and remodeling, which took him across the Midwest. Through this avenue, he found his passion for wood-working. He loved to build things for others, and had a natural talent in creating gorgeous, one of a kind items.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, David C. Sasser, Sr. and  Leota C. (Lamb) Sasser, and his siblings, Johnny D. Sasser, Janet K. Sasser, and David C. Sasser, Jr.

He is survived by his two children, Chelsea Sasser (Sandy Morris) of Springfield, Missouri, and Robby Sasser (Ruth DeBaise) of San Diego, California; his siblings, Linda Sasser of Harrisburg, Illinois, and Patricia Sasser of Harrisburg, Illinois; his grandchildren, Rylee, Addison, and Harley of Springfield, Missouri; his nephew, Derek Feazel (Nikki Feazel) of Harrisburg, Illinois; his great niece, Kaydence of Harrisburg, Illinois; and his beloved dog, Sherry.

Bob ensured his legacy will live on through tissue donation, and then giving the rest of himself to science, and through that generous decision, Bob will touch countless others as the family members, friends and communities of those who receive his donated tissue will be forever impacted by their improved quality of life, made possible through these selfless gifts.

In keeping with Bob's spirit of giving, a tribute fund has been set up in his honor. Rather than sending flowers, we kindly request that you consider making a donation to the COPD Foundation. You may donate at the following URL: https://everloved.com/life-of…. Any contribution, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in carrying forward Bob's legacy of kindness and support.

A Celebration of Life memorial is being planned for July, in the Springfield, Missouri area. Additional details will be made available as arrangements are made.

Bob has left us physically, but his legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire us. His memory will forever serve as a beacon of light in our lives. Rest in peace, Bob; you will be dearly missed.
