Robert Roy Nelson passed away on July 16th, 2023 in St. Petersburg, FL. Robert was born to Anna Marie and Harold Nelson on November 1st, 1956. Tired of the Ohio winters, Robert moved to Texas as a young man pursuing his aspirations as a carpenter. However, after quickly discovering that it still gets cold in Texas; Robert was called to Florida and eventually made his home on Pass a Grille Beach where he lived for over 30 years. A true artisan in his craft of masonry, Robert was renowned for his exceptional brickwork throughout the southeast. He was also known to many as a true friend. His kind nature and soft voice spoke volumes. He was a man you wanted in your corner and who would stand by your side no matter what. Robert Nelson, a beloved father, leaves behind a son, Jacob Nelson. In keeping with Robert's giving spirit one last time, his remains will be donated for medical research instead of a funeral. Per his wishes, his ashes will be spread at a later date. Instead of flowers and services, those who wish may donate to Suncoast Hospice in his honor, as Robert was able to find peace and comfort with their services prior to his passing.
