Robert's obituary

In Loving Memory of Robert Michael Rose

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Michael Rose; artist, writer, poet, a devoted humanitarian, cherished father, son, brother, uncle and beloved friend. He departed this world in late November 2023.

Born on 2/8/1953 in North Bend, Oregon, Robert was the son of Virgil Rose and Caroline Grimes. His early years were spent in the woods and on the beaches of Florence, Oregon. Robert's devotion to spirituality and his love of nature are values he carried with him throughout his life.

Robert attended Bible College in California with plans to enter the Ministry before leaving college to travel across North America. He approached each day with dedication and a passion for making a positive impact. With his first wife he helped raise his stepson Bodhi, who he mentioned often. Robert created "Salem Magazine" during his youth and worked as a radio D.J. after studying Broadcasting at Lane Community College. He later designed and worked on the creation of the "Logger's Memorial" while living in Albany, Oregon.

At the heart of Robert's life was his spirituality and art. As a father, Robert was a pillar of strength, offering guidance, encouragement, humanitarian values and spiritual education. His children, daughter Ashley Rose and stepson Jared Hill, enriched his life and he mentioned them often even after he relocated to Venice Beach, California.

Robert found joy in simple pleasures. An avid tournament gambler and outdoorsman, he shared his enthusiasm with family and friends, creating lasting memories. Robert was an intellectual, artist and philosopher and was very well read, and shared this love of learning with his daughter Ashley as he helped raise her.

Robert was an active member of his community and was well liked at the call center he worked at. Always quick with a joke and wanting to bring happiness into his coworkers' lives, he was well liked and had many friends. He raised money for Sierra Club.

Robert's legacy is one of artistry, intellectualism, love and compassion. He touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving an enduring imprint on the hearts of family, friends, and colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sierra Club.

The Rose family extends their gratitude for any prayers of love and support during this difficult time. Please join us in remembering and honoring the life of Robert Micheal Rose. He is survived by his daughter Ashley Rose, stepson Jared Hill, mother Caroline Yii, sisters Pamela Rose and Janice Lockwood, former wife Jackie Barlow, two nieces, and his two grandaughters Anabela Rose and Avalona Rose.

May he rest in Eternal Peace.
