Robert's obituary

REINHARDT, Robert G., 99 of Pompton Lakes passed away on January 20, 2022. He was born July 29, 1922 and to George and Grace Reinhardt and was raised in Paterson, N.J. He then lived in Pompton Lakes for 26 years with his wife. Robert was predeceased by his wife Felicia in 2001. Robert attended Wentworth Institute in Boston for engineering and also the Paterson Radio Institute for Electronics. He worked most of his life as an industrial and Mechanical Engineer. Before his retirement, Robert worked as a mechanical engineer for InsulFab Plastics, Inc. in East Rutherford. He was a former parishioner of St. Gerard’s RC Church in Paterson. Robert served in the US Navy, defending our country during WW II from 1942-1946. He was a First-Class Motor Machinist Mate on the LST 661 a tank landing ship, which carried out amphibious beach assaults, capturing the southern Palau Islands in the Pacific Ocean. As a veteran he became Commander of the John C. Wardlow VFW Post 7859 in Paterson. He has always been very athletic and enjoyed all kinds of sports, from canoeing, sailing on the Passaic River, ice hockey, snow skiing, water skiing, biking, and golfing. He enjoyed many years of trailer camping with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, and often enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He loved spending time in the garage with all his tools, enjoying new and challenging projects, whether his own or helping to solve a problem for the family or a friend. He was very skilled, and particularly enjoyed working on anything mechanical.
Robert was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and he will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved him. Loving father of Joan Stefanelli and her husband Dennis, Robert J. Reinhardt and his wife Debra, Rhonda Buchanan and her husband Steve, and Joseph Reinhardt and his wife Lori. Adored grandfather of Michael, his wife Olivia, Victoria, Bobby and his fiancé Alex, Anthony, Kristen, Jessica, Joseph Tyler, great grandfather of Erin Felicia and loving brother to Frank Reinhardt. He was predeceased by his brother William Reinhardt, and his sister-in-law Paula.
All services will be held privately by the family.
