Robert's obituary

Robert L Reed, Jr. passed away unexpectedly due to complications from COVID Thursday, August 26, 2021 in Abilene, TX.  Robert leaves behind his adoring wife, Audrey Dicus-Reed; mother, Gail Reed; sister, Colleen Reed-Ogden; his loving mother-in-law, Linda Barrett; nephews, Travis Sternberg & Kai Ogden and nieces, Casie Newcomb & Danielle Martinez as well as his fur babies, Jaeger, Thor, Wally, Brutus, Nacho & Taco.

Robert was preceded in his journey to Heaven by his father, Lieutenant Colonel Robert L Reed, Sr. USMC and his sister, Elizabeth Reed.

Robert completed his degree in Geography from Texas Tech University in 1991. He served as a member of the nationally recognized Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Strike Team for many years and participated in numerous disaster responses. More recently, Robert worked for environmental consultant firms and continued his service of disaster response and mitigation.  Thank you to his team members at TCEQ, Westin & EQM for always looking out for him!

Robert loved sharing time with his family and friends. We all will so miss his infectious laughter, wild sense of humor and overall love of life. His hobbies included adventures near and far with his wife, Audrey.  Whether snowmobiling, motorcycling, cruising, hiking or camping, all adventures were filled with so much love and joy!

Robert was an avid long range precision competition shooter. He also loved concerts and a wide variety of music - but Rush was always number one in his playlist!

His wife, Audrey, family and friends are shocked and devastated with Robert's passing.  He will be missed immensely and remembered always. Robert's love will be forever in our hearts. We are so blessed to have had him in our lives. He touched each and every one of us in his own unique way. For this we are forever grateful. We love you Robert. Fly high, our friend.

And the men who hold high places

Must be the ones to start

To mold a new reality

Closer to the Heart

The Blacksmith and the Artist

Reflect it in their art

Forge their creativity

Closer to the Heart

Philosophers and Plowmen

Each must know his part

To sow a new mentality

Closer to the Heart

You can be the Captain

I will draw the Chart

Sailing into destiny

Closer to the Heart
