To Ms. Johnson, Ms. Gail & Family,

I can only imagine what you all are feeling at this moment - I am so sorry! From stories I’ve heard from Vanessa about Mr. Johnson, he sounds like a pretty amazing Man, with an incredible sense of humor, who makes a mean crawfish!!

I speak of him in the present tense because I truly believe that Mr. Johnson is now living with Our Heavenly Father, where God intends for us all to be - with Him, in peace.

...until then, "Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for blessing this world with Mr. Johnsons' beautiful light and for the unimaginable sacrifices You've made, all to save us! Please forgive us for being too busy, too distracted, too prideful to come to You first! God, I pray that You hold The Johnson Family closer as they grieve and please God, give them such a strength, the world cannot understand!

In Jesus name we pray,- Amen

13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.                                                                                                                                     (1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4‬‬:‭13‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

I am so sorry, cousin! I pray that God will give you strength during this difficult time. God knows what you all are going through and He will see you through this. I love you!!

Mr. Johnson, I hope you’re at peace. I hope all of your family is at peace. Seems far too soon for you to be gone. But you were so loved, so fun, so proud, with light all around you. So glad our Gail brought me home to New Orleans to meet you and all of your energy (and sarcasm)! I just knew you were my kind of people! You called me Ness Ness, and I loved that. I saw you sing at church, and I loved that too. You helped introduce me to peeling crawfish, and loved that! :) Thanks so much for bringing your humor and making me feel like family.  So sorry you had to leave us. But hope the wings fit nicely. Sending all my love from Montreal to you and those close to you as you all move through this.

Ms. Johnson, I can’t imagine how you feel. So sorry for your loss. I know you are surrounded by love. Wish I could hug you my self, but unfortunately a trip to New Orleans in time for today’s celebrations just wasn’t in the cards. But please know that I’m thinking of you and Gail and all your family.  Miss you and I will work to come see you soon! All my love on this very tough, yet special day.

Gail, miss you and adore you. Thinking of you.

- Vanessa
