Bob's obituary
Robert "Bob" Potocar, born in 1947, passed away on December 10, 2022. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Diane Potocar; daughter, Kimberly (John) Senn; stepdaughter, Shelby Horst; stepson, Paul Horst; sister, Maryann Potocar; and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his father, William Potocar; mother, Louise Potocar; brother, William Potocar Jr.; sister, Carol Potocar; and brother, Daniel Potocar.
Bob graduated from Euclid High School in 1966 and began his career at Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. In 1976, he married Diane Potocar and continued his career at Cleveland Electric until 1993. After retiring, Bob began working at Midwest Materials, where he remained until 1999. He then moved to Florida and worked for Florida Light and Power before transitioning to U.S. Sugar in 2008. Bob retired for the last time in 2019 and moved back to Ohio.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Bob was known for his love of boating, fishing, working in his garage, and spending time with his dogs. His favorite vacation spot was the British Virgin Islands, but he genuinely enjoyed being at home with his loved ones.
Bob's favorite foods included salads and beef soaked in vinegar (sour meat), and he enjoyed Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and iced tea with lemon. Bob always carried in his pocket a medal given to him by Kim, and a chap stick, I even found one in his pocket of his clothes he wore to the hospital. He had a fondness for polka music, 50s and 60s tunes, and the Fast and the Furious film series and all SYFI.
God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, So He put his arms around you, and whispered," Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us. He only takes the best.
A burial for Bob will be held on July 8, 2023, at 11:00AM at Perry Cemetery Middle Ridge Rd Perry, Ohio, followed by a Celebration of Life. Bob's warmth, humor, and presence will be forever remembered, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
