Bob's obituary
Robert Otto Hock, 86, passed away on September 11th at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. He has gone home to be with the Lord.
Robert (Bob) was born on May 22nd, 1938 to Otto and Vera Hock in Dearborn, MI.
He worked as a finish carpenter most of life and was well loved and respected for his skill and craftsmanship. Bob was also incredibly talented at fixing and repairing everything.
Bob was a loving husband of 46 years to his wife Kathreen, and beloved stepdad to her six children, David, Mike, Rebecca, Kim, Erin and Paul, and “Grandpa Bob” to Kathy’s many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After retiring, Bob and Kathy built a second home on Drummond Island, where, as a young man, Bob spent a lot of time building homes and enjoying the fantastic fishing, boating and outdoor activities that Drummond has to offer. Bob and Kathy loved to go up there whenever they had the chance and especially loved sitting by the water watching the beautiful sunsets.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Vera Hock, his son Robbie Burch (from a previous marriage), his brother Richard Hock, Richard’s son and daughter Dennis and Debbie Hock, his brother-in-law Walter Wongstrom, niece, Sherryl Kutzner, and his stepsons David and Paul Kercher.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, stepson Micheal Kercher, stepdaughters Rebecca (James) Coffin, Kimberly (Mark) Walsh, and Erin (Timothy) Aiken, grandson Owen (Samantha) Burch and great grandsons Grayson and Carter, in addition to all of Kathy’s grand and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Catherine Wongstrom and Shirley (Patrick) Murphy, and brother Ronald (Barbara) Hock, along with all his many, many nieces and nephews on the Hock side of the family.
According to his wishes, a cremation has taken place.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 27th, 2024 at the Pinckney American Legion Hall, 9807 Whitewood Rd, Pinckney, MI from 2pm-5pm. A buffet luncheon will be served.
Memorial contributions can be made in Bob’s name to Saint Jude’s Hospital.
