I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Bob at Gannett and we occasionally played golf together. He was a good man - we shared many a laugh together.

I remember meeting Bob back in 1986 when I joined the sports staff of the Courier Times. Even though I had just finished college, Bob never talked down to me. We were on the same level . He always offered good advice when I needed it. Bob has always been one of those people you could count on as a friend and he was a friend I could always count on. He'll forever be my friend.

Bob was one of the few people who believed in me as a filmmaker. He did more to support me than I was willing to ask for. I loved being on set with him on Vendetta Games and The Saxophonist. My condolences to his family at this difficult time.

It’s been my honor and privilege to have known Bob for close to 20 years. Bob lived such a wonderful life. We shared many of the same passions in our love of thoroughbred racing, Broadway shows, and of course, movies, his second career.
Bob was a member of Uptowncharlybrown Stud, a thoroughbred racing partnership, in which he made many friends. He was also an investor in Back To The Future, The Musical which has been critically acclaimed and won 15 awards in London including the prestigious “Olivier” Award for Best New Musical.
He so wanted to go to London to see it. In his final months I joked with him that I was going to “bust him out” and take him to Ocala to see his baby horses; and, from there we would head to London. Bob laughed as he said it sounded good to him.
Bob never complained; instead, he made you laugh and feel good. I can’t think of a single time he didn’t have a smile on his face. I named a horse after him in his honor. There’s a yearling in Ocala with the moniker, BOBO LIVER. What’s the connection? Many, many years ago Bob wrote a story; however, instead of the byline reading written by Bob Oliver; it had a typo as the O was added to Bob. Thus BOBO LIVER. It made Bob laugh out loud as he loved it.
On behalf of Bob’s Uptowncharlybrown Stud family I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to Bob’s family, as well as to all of us that felt like his family. He may be gone, but he’ll never be forgotten. May he Rest In Peace in the House Of The Lord for all eternity. The world seems a little less bright with Bob’s passing. Thank you Bob for being my friend.
With deepest sympathy,
Bob Hutt

I got to know Bob through the International Network of Golf. He was a loyal and productive member of ING, for which he served as president in the mid-90s. He was a multi-talented human being, succeeding in a variety of of business endeavors, and often spoke of enjoying the time he shared with his son in the hockey arena. A fond personal memory came on July 4th in, I think, 1995, when Bob and I were caught in a thunderstorm at Alaqua Country Club in Lake Mary. We rode it out for about 45 minutes in a rest area after the fifth hole there, sharing stories and learning more about each other. When the skies cleared, my next swing turned into my only hole-in-one ever. Bob was as thrilled as I was. Bob was a great guy. Prayers to him and his family.

In this 1973 photo Bob, right, said something that made me laugh just before the photo was taken. He was the most joyful man I have known and delighted in making other people smile and laugh. I have loved him for more than 50 years and miss him terribly. It was my privilege to help take care of him in his final months. Rest in peace, Bob. You are well loved.

Having worked with Bob for many years, at both Gannett and TEGNA, I know he will be missed greatly. Bob always had great stories. I know whenever I went to ask him a question or advice, I could count on an anecdote to accompany the answer. He always had time to spend with you -- my condolences to his family. I know his loss will be felt by many.
