Bob's obituary
It is with a heavy heart to announce Robert “Bob” Nerowski, aged 73, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026.
While the world knew Robert as “Bob”, he held many other titles: “Baby”, “Bobby”, “Dad”, and “Grampy”. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Charles Nerowski. Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sally “Sal”; his mother, Julia; his two children Scott (Veda) and Emalee “Emmy”; four grandchildren Griffin, Ella (Dylan), Tessa, and Carter; and his best companion Bitzy. Bob is also remembered by his 4 siblings, Mari Ann Denger (Jim), Tom Nerowski (Jan), Brian Nerowski (Patti), and Dan Nerowski (Cindy). There are countless other friends, family members, coworkers, and companions that will carry our special guy in their heart forever.
Bob spent over 40 years working at Detroit Edison. Through this time, he built meaningful relationships, and though he may have been a “boss”, he was never afraid to laugh.
In his time outside of work, you could find Bob at the casino, traveling with Sal, golfing with his dearest friend Ron, or on his way to Hardwood Lake to spend time up north. Bob made plenty of precious memories doing science experiments, taking tractor rides, watching the history channel, and taking walks through the woods with his grandkids.
Bob courageously fought bladder cancer for 14 years. While the disease attacked his body, it never nicked his spirit. He fought so hard, without second thought, not just for himself, but for those who love him. There is not a single thing Bob would not have done for those he loved, and that includes pushing through scans, scopes, chemo treatments, and seemingly endless appointments. While Bob’s life was cut short, his illness did not win, as his love remains steadfast and solid.
In lieu of flowers, we ask kindly that you donate to St. Croix Hospice. St. Croix gave Bob the luxury to spend his last days and ultimately pass in the warmth of his home. These days were priceless, and they ensured Bob was surrounded by love and peace at the end of his journey. We will never be able to thank St. Croix enough, as their staff worked tirelessly to give Bob the transition he deserved.
Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, we recommend enjoying a day at the casino, taking a boat ride, or driving down to Stanley’s Market to play Club Keno or the Daily4.
To Bob, we will never forget you. We will feel you in the sunshine, see you in the lake’s reflection, and feel your luck on our scratch offs. You are so special to so many. We cannot wait for you to join us on our next adventures, as we know you will be there. There has never been a time where you missed an opportunity to show up for those you loved, and I am faithful you will continue that pattern through spirit. I loved you yesterday, I love you today, and I will love you tomorrow.
