Robert's obituary
Robert William Nentwich Sr. went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2023 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 79. He was born on July 23, 1944 in Castroville, Texas, the oldest son of Herbert and Anna Mae Nentwich. He was raised by his Uncle Charles and Aunt Eleanor Nentwich in San Antonio where he grew up and worked on their family dairy with his cousin, Karl Nentwich. He was a trombone player in the marching band and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1963. He then began his career as a butcher at Handy Andy for 28 years and continued working as a butcher at HEB.
On November 20, 1965, he married Susan Boubel. They lived in San Antonio and raised three boys, Robert Jr, Tommy and Michael. Throughout their 28 years together, Robert was a volunteer fireman at Geronimo Village and operated the family farm. His interests included working on project cars and showing his sons basic mechanics. He participated and supported his sons in the Helotes 4-H for many years. He actively supported the boy’s baseball and football teams as well as the Taft marching band. He was also a member of the Hermann Sons local chapter. His favorite pastime was hunting or surf fishing at North Padre Island.
During his time with HEB, he moved to New Braunfels. There he married Beverly Childers on April 15, 1994. They raised rottweilers and chihuahuas with a long-lasting love for their many chihuahuas. Robert continued to care for farm animals on their property. He would spend time in his shop repairing appliances for resell. He also looked for hidden treasures in the storage units he purchased.
Robert was a proud member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. He loved singing in the choir and attending Sunday school, bible studies and his men’s group. His church involvement helped with the loss of his wife Beverly who passed on July 28, 2021. They had been married for 27 years.
Robert is preceded in death by his father and mother Herbert and Anna Mae Nentwich, his sister Alice Ann Qualls (husband Jack), sister Joyce Ann Jones, brother Donald Nentwich, cousin/brother Karl Nentwich (wife Caroline) and his wife Beverly Nentwich.
He is survived by his children, Robert Nentwich Jr and wife Jana, Thomas Nentwich and wife Christine, and Michael Nentwich and wife Jaclyn and his 5 grandchildren Brittney Nentwich, Corey Childers and wife Victoria, Chance Clarke and wife Briana, Victoria Delgado and husband Adrian, Kathleen Clarke and great grandchildren Cassidy Childers and Scarlett Delgado. His siblings, Russell Nentwich (son Russell, daughter Jennie) and Roy Nentwich and wife Martha (son Douglas, daughter Kathryn).
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at his church, St. Paul Lutheran, Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Services will begin at 1:00 pm.
