Robert's obituary
SFC (Ret) Robert Moss
Robert Moss entered this world on June 16, 1967, in Manila, Philippines and entered his heavenly home on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri having attained the age of 56 years.
Robert, son of Norman L. Moss and Lina (Lariosa) Moss, grew up as a military child due to his father being in the United States Air Force. Robert followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the United States Army. He served faithfully throughout his military career and retired in 2007 having attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. For his faithful service, he earned several awards and commendations; some of which include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (8th Award), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Non commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th Award), and Driver and Mechanic Badge- Mechanic.
During his time in the military, Robert met a young lady by the name of Tammy Sue Knepper. They were united in marriage on July 31, 1987, in Anniston, Alabama and shared over 36 years of marriage together. Robert and Tammy were blessed with three precious daughters: Christy, Sommer, and Meghan.
In 2001, Robert and the family were transferred to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and at the time of Robert’s retirement, they decided to remain in the area.
A couple of years after his retirement, Robert was ready to go back to work and continued serving his country as a civil service employee at Fort Leonard Wood. He was a chemical training specialist and enjoyed the friendships that he made along the way.
In his spare time, Robert enjoyed being outdoors while hunting and fishing and was an avid sports memorabilia collector. Robert was a huge Atlanta Braves baseball fan and watched every game that he could.
Most importantly, Robert loved his family dearly and treasured all the time that he could spend with them, especially the grandchildren. He loved playing with them; whether it was acting goofy with them, playing games, or just being in their presence, Robert’s day was complete when he was with the grandchildren.
Robert made an important decision in his life and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was a member of the St. Robert Church of God, and he loved worshipping with his church family.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Moss of the home in St. Robert; three children, Christy Olson (Taylor) of St. Robert, MO, Sommer Lord (Tim) of Waynesville, MO, and Meghan Chavez (Andrew) of St. Robert, MO; four grandchildren, Carter Bansemer, Cohen Olson, Noah Huston, and Novalei Lord; his parents, Norman and Lina Moss of St. Robert, MO; a sister, Tina Fisher (Marty ) of Gerrardstown, WV; a brother, Donnie Knepper (Angel) of Hedgesville, WV; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.

Even though he is gone from our sight, Robert’s love of God, family, and country will live on in our hearts forever.
