Robert's obituary
Bob, as he was known to everyone, was born October 15, 1927 in Detroit, MI, the oldest son of Andrew and Helen MacLaren. He graduated from Cass Tech High School in 1945, and served in the U.S. Army 1946-1947. He studied chemical engineering at Wayne State University, where he met his wife, Norma MacLaren (nee Lane). They were married in 1951 in Royal Oak, MI. Bob went on to receive his masters degree in chemical engineering in 1956. He worked his entire career for Gage Products Chemical Company in Ferndale, MI where he started in sales and later became general manager, then president of the company, retiring in 1986.
Bob is survived by his wife, Norma MacLaren, daughters Elle MacLaren, Mary Kate (Tom) Riordan, and Jane (Mike) Robie. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alex and Max Caukin, Larry (Christina) and Bob Riordan, Katie (Adam)Longo, and Joe and Emma Robie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David MacLaren.
His life was enriched by extensive travel, golf, tennis, and above all, his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and doted on his grandchildren who brought him much joy.
A private memorial/celebration of life will be held at a future date.
