Bob's obituary
If you ever needed help fixing something, building something, or had any question on how to do something, Robert "Bob" Burns was the guy you called. Bob passed away peacefully at the age of 80. He was a resident of Orangevale, CA, after decades of living in Placerville, CA.
Bob was born on April 9, 1945 to Merrill and Edna Burns in San Francisco, CA and grew up in the city with his parents and close family. After graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1963, he briefly worked at the Hunter's Point Naval Shipyard before joining the U.S. Coast Guard in 1965. He served in the Coast Guard for 4 years. In 1964, he met Sandra Eimers on New Year's Eve, they got married in November of 1966, and then had two children, Cynthia in 1967 and Gary in 1971.
After leaving the military, he worked as an x-ray repairman where he met and worked with some of his best and closest friends. He ultimately retired from Kaiser in 2007 and was able to dedicate more time to his passion of traveling with his beautiful wife and building furniture and other woodworking projects. Bob and Sandra spent many years touring the world and enjoying time in their Tahoe vacation home. Together they traveled to 6/7 continents and countless countries. One of his many favorite trips was to China in 2017.
In some more recent years, he was introduced to beekeeping by his son, Gary, and had numerous hives over the years. Placerville was a struggle for the bees but once he was in Orangevale, his hives flourished!
He is survived by his wife Sandra, children (Cynthia and Gary), grandchildren (Nathan, Madeline, Nick, Brock, Tatiana, and Easton), sisters (Joan, Ruby, Dolores, and Beverly), and numerous cousins, nieces/nephews, and friends, who will all miss him greatly.
