Bob's obituary
He was born in Bloomington, IL on July 10, 1933 to Maurice Leuchtenberg and Edythe Shoemaker Leuchtenberg. Robert grew up in Bloomington and graduated from Trinity High School in Bloomington, IL. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served as a
Paratrooper at Ft Benning, GA from 1953-1955.
Following the service, Robert worked at Continental Grain in Hennepin, IL and later for the Village of Sheffield. He was also a volunteer for the Sheffield Fire and Rescue Department, as well as the Brashear County Fire Department, where he was awarded fireman of the year.
Robert was also an avid fisherman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Edythe Leuchtenberg and a son, Earl Kevin Griggs.
Survivors include his brother, Wayne Leuchtenberg of Galesburg, IL; his sisters, Marietta Peve of Walnut, IL and Rita Toohill of LeRoy, IL. His daughter Kelli Willstead of Oregon, IL. 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday September 30th, 11am at the Walnut Cemetery in Walnut, IL.
