Robert's obituary
Robert’s career opportunities were one to be admired. In the 1970s, he joined the Police Academy and became a police officer in Providence. After breaking his back, he decided to leave the force and went on to become a counselor for Argus Community Inc.
In his quest for more knowledge, Alderson Broaddus University was his next choice. He attend there from 1988-1991 studying Physician’s Assistant. Robert was fortunate to also attend Redding University and then he received his Bachelor of Science in Facility Management. Robert went on to get his certificate in HIV, substance abuse and alcoholism from the National School of Health and Technology.
Robert met his wife Brenda during one of her musical performances. They quickly became friends and Bob decided that Brenda was the one he had been looking for. She had the most important quality…(wait for it)…she could cook! Robert loved food, especially chicken wings, potato salad, collard greens, sweet potatoes and hamburgers. Brenda wasn’t giving in so quickly to marrying Robert but he had the best rap under the sun so she couldn’t resist. They decided to get married and keep love alive. Robert and Brenda loved doing things together even forming their own business corporation together, Musical Delight Productions along with Renovations and Designs.
Robert was a proud father when his son Bobby was born (a chip off the old block as they say). One of their favorite things to do was to play basketball. Competition between the two was fierce. The last time they played, both fought hard but, in the end, Robert won! Unfortunately, he had to put on his back brace and leg brace after his son wore him out.
When his daughter Desiray came into his life, he was filled with such joy. Homework and school projects was their time to create robots and animal kingdoms. Robert and Desiray were the negotiators (always putting a plan in place), while keeping mother in the dark.
Robert accepted the Lord Jesus Christ later in his life. Once he did, he was committed to serving the Lord with whatever gifts God blessed him with. He never lost sight on how good God had been to him no matter what his life looked like.
In 2011, Robert became a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York where Bishop Rev. Dr. Johnny Youngblood is the Executive Pastor.
Robert was a great husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a great person to know and love by those who were in his life. Robert was always willing to help someone who might be in trouble or help them develop some of their dreams. He was a big guy with a gentle soul who will be truly missed.
Robert leaves to mourn his wife Brenda, son Bobby and daughter in law, Alicia, daughter Desiray, adopted son Chris, sister Patricia (who preceded him in death), sister Evelyn, brother Muhammad and sister-in law, Sakina, sister-in law Sandra (who preceded him in death), sister-in law Patricia, sister-in law, Marcia, his aunts Kate and Bernice, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Lovingly submitted,
The Family
