Robbie's obituary
Robbie was last seen on December 9, 2018. His remains were found almost 2 years to the day -- December 8, 2020-- in a wooded area off the highway. He was 37 years old. Robbie succumbed to a lifelong battle with addiction despite numerous attempts to overcome the crippling disease. He was a different person when he was sober than when actively using. His family longed to have the sober version of him around. Growing up Robbie had a way about him that drew people to him. He had an infectious smile that could light up the room the moment he walked in. He adored his wife and doted over his children. Anyone would appreciate his skilled hand as a carpenter and he enjoyed playing guitar in his free time. Robbie looked forward to times when he, Emily, and their kids would get-together at his sister’s house with her kids, husband, their mom and sometimes their brother and his daughter and just spend quality time -- He was always the one in charge of a breakfast of his famous biscuits with sausage gravy.
Robbie was survived by his handsome son Isaac, his beautiful wife Emily and their two daughters, Abigail and Rylee who were, beyond a shadow of a doubt, daddy’s little girls; his mother Rebecca -- with whom he had a very close relationship, father James, brother Jamie (and his 3 children) sister Kelly (and her 4 children), and grandmother Mary Nell.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Boliver (Bob) and Georgia, and maternal grandfather Wallace Gene.
Hopefully Robbie’s story can help just one addict push even harder for another day of sobriety, encourage an active user to choose recovery, or shine a light on this horrible epidemic.
Addiction hides in the faces of everyday people all around us -- it does not discriminate. Robbie isn’t just another statistic or just “another one gone too soon,” he was a great heart with a bright future and a gift that the world lost and can never be replaced. Honor Robbie by thinking twice before you judge an addict.
A small memorial to spread Robbie’s ashes and say final goodbyes is being planned for his immediate family
