Bob's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Gehrke, a beloved husband, father, friend, and community leader. Bob was born on December 3, 1941, in Rock Springs, Wisconsin and departed from this life on July 2, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. After serving his country well during the Vietnam war, he returned to his award winning career in insurance, (he could sell ice to an Eskimo).
He is remembered as a man of wit and generosity, whose significant heart was evident in all his interactions.
A true Renaissance man, Bob took pleasure in an array of interests. His love for a well-crafted “cadillac margarita” was rivaled only by his passion for fishing and gardening. His green thumb provided an impressive staple to his home and brought him immense joy. Friends and family remember countless evenings enjoying the serene ambiance of his impressive outdoor kitchen and party areas, or the delightful backdrop of a sunset in Cancun, one of his favorite vacation spots.
Bob's legacy is defined by his strong work ethic, which played a vital role in his greatest accomplishment - building a thriving business from the ground up. This was not just an indication of his commitment to hard work but also showcased his commendable skill of creating and maintaining meaningful relationships. His natural charisma and authentic kindness were the main ingredients to his success, which will continue to inspire those who knew him.
While the loss of such a person weighs heavy on our hearts, we take comfort in knowing how many lives Bob touched with his humor and talent for story telling . He is survived by his loving wife, Kat, who supported him in every endeavor and was his pillar of strength. His legacy of kindness and generosity will echo throughout the lives of those he touched.
He is survived by his sister Donna Gehrke, and his six children, James Sanders (Eryn), Jojo Gehrke, Amy Clark (Randy), Sarah Tindall (Michael), Elisabeth Lujan (Ce’Fereeno) and Hudson Sanders (Shelby), and fourteen grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates your stories and memories of Bob. His life was one well-lived and filled with extraordinary moments that we wish to commemorate together. As we remember Bob, we see a fisherman at peace by the lake, a gardener carefully tending to his plants, and a man who loved deeply. We bid him farewell with heavy hearts but are comforted by the fact that he is rejoicing in heaven.
