Richard's obituary

Richard Robert Fitzmaurice, age 83, of Homer Glen, IL, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, with his loving daughter and son-in-law by his side. Richard led a life full of love, laughter, and service. A proud Army veteran, he served his country with dedication, embodying the values of loyalty and courage that stayed with him throughout his life.

Richard's greatest joy came when he met the love of his life, Carole (née McGowan). The two married on July 20, 1963, and together they created a home filled with love, humor, and the joy of raising their beloved daughter, Kelli Ann.

Professionally, Richard was a successful business owner, installing fire and burglar alarm systems to help protect countless homes and businesses. His work ethic and skill in his trade were admired by all who knew him.

Above all else, Richard will be remembered for his boundless generosity and the warmth he brought to every relationship. He had a heart of gold and was always there to lend a hand, offer a kind word or an occasional joke. He was deeply loved by all and cherished for his role as a devoted father, friend, and member of his community.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carole, and his parents, George and Lois Fitzmaurice. Richard is survived by his loving daughter, Kelli Ann (David) Wasielewski, his sister, Lucille Pasmore, and his niece Dawn, along with many cherished cousins and friends, especially his dear friend Kurt.
