Robert's obituary
Robert Evan Richards, age 87, formerly of Danbury CT, now of Collegeville, PA entered the kingdom of heaven at Phoenixville Hospital on February 27, 2026.
He was born in Scranton, PA in 1938 to Floyd and Elsie (Smith) Richards and had an older brother named William Richards. He attended Scranton Central High School in Scranton, Pennsylvania, before studying Mathematics and minoring in Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Scranton, graduating with a bachelor of Science degree. He became a commissioned officer of the US Army through the ROTC, and was on active duty from 1961-1964, and in the reserves until 1968, where he received an honorable discharge. He spent many decades in the Telecommunications field, working for Exxon, Western Union International, Union Carbide, Linde, Cable & Wireless, and Oxford Health, before retiring.
Robert is survived by Heide (Rothe), Robert T. and Karen (Richards) Stoltzfus, and three grandchildren.
He has chosen to donate his body to the Humanity Gifts Registry and donations can be made to them in his memory in lieu of flowers. Donations can also be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Norristown on March 28th at 11am
A burial service will be sometime in the future.
