Robert's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Dead Man Walking" Cook, who preferred simply to be called Robert. Born on January 19, 1970, the jovial and lively Robert lived a full and rich life, before his untimely passing on January 9, 2024.
Robert leaves behind his loving partner, Ida Smith-Cook, and a large, closely-knit family. He is survived by his sons, Robert, Austin, and Hunter Cook, and his daughter, Jade Burks. His nephews and brothers- Terry, Wayne, and Lewis Cook- mourn his loss along with his grandchildren: Na'Kaden Blackwell, Bentley Duvall, and Braylee Cook. Robert's youngest son and grandson, in particular, will deeply feel his absence.
Robert retired in 2018 after a successful career at Shamrock Technologies. His retirement years were filled with enjoyment of the simpler things in life. Many will remember him as an ardent fan of U K Wildcat Basketball, an aficionado of action movies, and a lover of TV shows such as NCIS and CSI. He loved walking and expressed his love for life through his favorite colors, purple and gold.
As a man, he was known to be ever jovial, never failing to lighten the mood with his humor. Robert's favorite music - Chris Stapleton's Tennessee Whiskey - echoed his own personality: warm, comforting, and timeless. He loved indulging in fried bologna sandwiches and diet Dr. Pepper, simple pleasures that brought him immense joy.
Robert imparted many life lessons to those around him, the most significant being, living life to the fullest. His legacy will continue to live on through the captivating stories he leaves behind, shared among friends and family.
We celebrate Robert's rich life, remembering him for his joyful spirit and the love he shared freely with all those around him. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
