Robert's obituary

Robert Diener, 96, of Middle Village, NY, passed away on March 1st, 2022 after complications due to a stroke.

Robert was born on February 3rd, 1926 to Adam Diener and Katharina (geb. Hopp) in Tscherwenka (Crvenka), Yugoslavia. Robert studied, initially under his father Adam, to become a cabinet maker (Schreiner/Tischler). In 1946, he met Josefine (geb. Grünauer), and they were wed in 1951 in Partenkirchen, Germany. Together they had 2 children, Brigitte and Raymond.

Robert was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world.

Robert was a passionate member of the Carpenters Union and could often be found lecturing people on the type of wood that their furniture was made out of. He was also a devout member of Zion German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brooklyn. Robert was predeceased by his wife Josefine (d. 2016) and his brother Adam. He is survived by his daughter Brigitte, his son Raymond, his grandchildren, Andrea, Sabrina, Anelise, and Lorelei, and his son-in-law, Richard.

The family requests that all flowers are sent to Hess-Miller Funeral Home (6419 Metropolitan Ave). In lieu of flowers, you may donate directly to the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service. There will be a funeral service on March 5th, 2022 from 11:00am - 1:30pm at Hess-Miller, with internment following at Fresh Pond Crematory.

Please be advised that due to Covid restrictions, only family members will be able to enter the Fresh Pond Crematory for final service.
