Bob's obituary

January 26, 2022 marks a day when laughter and joy ceased for a time as Robert Miller Cousin took his last breath. Bob was born on July 4, 1947 to Margaret Jean Miller and Bethel E Cousin. Bethel left when Bob was 2 years old, leaving Margaret to raise a young boy as a single mom during a time when it was looked down upon. In 1967, Private Cousin began his Army career, which lasted until he retired in 1991. After 24 years as an Air Traffic Controller, Bob retired from the Army and went to college at DeVry, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems in 1994. After his mom died in 2000, he moved to Kerrville, Texas where his wife had gone before to care for his mom and her husband, George Copeland. He lived in Kerrville for the remainder of his days. Bob is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Ethel Cousin, and his four daughters, Donita Humrich, Tina Kelly, Sonja Brown, and Zaneta Rizzo.

These are the facts of his life, but they are not the most important parts of his life. Bob’s favorite color was silver. He loved classic rock and Hooters. He rarely went someplace without making people laugh or smile. He lost 2 toes on one foot and his other leg to diabetes, but he wrote funny messages on his stump to make people laugh when he went places. He wore funny t-shirts to his appointments, did wheelchair wheelies on the sidewalk and brought chocolate kisses to the staff at hospitals and doctor’s offices. No matter what happened to him, he was always ready with a quick wit, a good joke and a great attitude. He brought joy wherever he went. He laughed often. It was no different at home where his wife, Ethel, daughter, Sonja, and son-in-law, Chris lived with him and loved doing whatever they could for him out of sheer love. Bob leaves a painful hole in the lives of those who loved him and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. But he also left a legacy of laughter and joy and made others want to follow his example. Rest In Peace Robert Cousin, Bob, Pops, Daddy.
