Bob's obituary
Robert Charles Potter, affectionately known as Bob or UB, was born April 20, 1951 in Brush, Colorado, the last of eight children. After graduating Brush High school he enlisted in the Army and served from 1970-1973.
After discharge, he purchased a home in Grand Junction, Colorado and started a career in the oil rigs serving as a driller in Alaska.
In 1979, he met Susan and continued work on oil rigs in Colorado. In February 1985, the pair married and lived a life of adventure. Bob had a lifelong love of racing— working as a flagger at the small local raceway, Sears Point, Thunderhill Raceway and Laguna Seca. Bob and Susan rode motorcycles— spending years as members of the Clearlake Road Riders after settling in Kelseyville, Ca in 1987. A lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 951 in Lakeport, Bob spent years supporting veterans in various capacities including driving for Disabled American Veterans.
By 2013, seeking warmer weather, Bob and Susan relocated to Hereford, Arizona where Bob enjoyed being home, working in his workshop and tinkering with collectibles.
In August 2025, Bob died unexpectedly at home. Bob is survived by his wife Susan and numerous extended family.
Friends and family are invited to join Susan for his internment scheduled on his birthday, April 20, 2026 at Hartley Cemetery, 11:00am in Lakeport, Ca 95453. The Lake County Military Funeral Honors Team will provide funeral honors.
