Robert's obituary

Robert Thompson, age 42, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023, in Tacoma, WA due to metastatic cancer.

Robert was born in San Leandro, CA to parents Gwendolyn Willis and Fredric H Thompson. He was the middle child, with his older brother, Fredric D, and younger sister, Alexis, on either side. He spent his early years growing up in Oakland, CA and later moved to WA, where he eventually met his wife, Joanna, in his junior year of high school.

He and Joanna had three children, Aliya, Tiberius and Maya and he dedicated many years to raising them into amazing, smart, strong, and loving humans. He later worked as a Field Supervisor and enjoyed building up the kids that were out there playing.

Robert loved spending time with family, fishing and watching football. But he adored his Oakland Raiders, literally waking neighbors screaming and clapping during games.

Robert is survived by his wife, Joanna; children Aliya, Tiberius, and Maya; mother, Gwendolyn; father, Fredric; siblings, Fredric, and Alexis; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his Beloved Granny, Lois Hoover; Grandfather, Clarence Willis; Cherished Papaw, Theophilus Thompson; and Noni, Dorothy Thompson.

Robert was generous with his love and generous in his passing, donating his corneas and restoring site to two people. He was and still is loved by many and will be forever missed. A memorial and tree-planting will be held in Seattle, WA on June 10, 2023.
