Bob's obituary
Robert C. (“Bob”) Adams
February 17, 1956 – February 15, 2026
Robert “Bob” Adams, age 69, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Panama City Beach, FL, from complications subsequent a bicycle accident. He was born on February 17, 1956, in Tarzana, California, to Ruth and Al Adams, where he grew up with siblings Anne, Lee, and Hugh Adams.
Bob attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he met Carol Ann Ferrer, who later became his wife. Bob and Carol Ann built their life together in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he helped raise her two daughters, Emily McIsaac and Jennifer Humberstone. He stepped into fatherhood wholeheartedly, teaching both girls to play volleyball — a sport they each carried with them into college— helping with homework, and giving the girls a taste for adventure with wild tube rides behind his boat on Lake Mead.
Bob made his living as the owner of his own pool cleaning business, something he took pride in building and running himself. He had an entrepreneurial streak and a practical, hands-on way about him. Over the years, he also picked up the art of coffee roasting, a skill he passed along to his son-in-law, Mark.
About ten years ago, Bob moved to Big Canoe, Georgia, where he embraced an active retirement surrounded by the woods and quiet beauty of North Georgia. There he met Nancy Thurmond, who became his partner in the later years of his life. Together they recently settled into a new home in Panama City Beach, Florida, enjoying live music, warm weather, and the easy rhythm of coastal life.
Bob was known for his fun-loving spirit, athleticism, kindness, and ability to live simply and fully. Family and friends will smile remembering Bob at the grill, slinging killer margaritas, and always ready to bust out some classic dance moves. He had a steady presence, an irreverent sense of humor, and — as those closest to him would agree — a streak of stubbornness that was entirely his own. He valued time outdoors, music, and above all, the people he loved.
He is survived by his partner, Nancy Thurmond; his daughters, Emily McIsaac and Jennifer Humberstone; his grandchildren, Olivia McIsaac, Marie McIsaac, Riley Humberstone, and Evelyn Humberstone; his siblings Anne Smith and Hugh Adams; his nieces Kristin Wheatley and Alison Smith, and many friends whose lives are better for having known him. His death is preceded by his parents, Al and Ruth, and his brother, Lee. We miss him beyond words.
We will celebrate Bob’s life in Big Canoe on April 25, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Starlings, a youth volleyball program, or the cause of your choice.
