Robert's obituary

ROBERT JARVIS BUTLER

At 2:22pm on April 18, 2021, in Houston, Texas, Robert Jarvis Butler passed from this earth. Bobby was born on June 11, 1951 in Orange, Texas, to parents William & Olivia Butler.

Bobby was the baby of the family, following older siblings Billy and Pat. He grew up in Orange and graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in 1969. He attended Texas A&M University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance.

Like many A&M graduates, Bobby’s love for Aggie football ran deep; on game day you could hear his excitement (or disappointment) for miles! In April 1974, Bobby and Pam Mouton married. During their seventeen years together, they had two wonderful kids, Brett and Amanda.

Bobby served his country proudly in the Army Reserves, was president of a bank, played an enviable game of golf, but when considering his many achievements, Bobby was most proud of his sobriety. On January 26, 1992, on his mother’s birthday, he got sober and in January 2021, he celebrated twenty-nine years of sobriety.

Bobby Butler was a good man with a kind and giving heart. He was gentle and humble and never met a stranger. His smile and laugh were infectious. His sweet tooth was unrivaled! He was known to keep candies and treats in his bedside table, with plenty to share. He always tried to do what was right. And he was sober when he passed from this life.

Bobby is survived and deeply loved and missed by his son Brett and daughter-in-law Hannah, his daughter Amanda, and his four grandchildren Page, Piper, Poppy and Rumi.

Gig ‘em, Aggie!

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
