It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Robert "Bud" Hidlay, who left us on December 18, 2024. Born on September 7, 1948, Bud was a beacon of dedication throughout his life, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Bud was a an accomplished dog breeder, specialising most recently in the Portuguese Podengos breed. His eagerness to share his insightful knowledge about this particular breed will forever be remembered. His teachings helped many to better understand and appreciate these beautiful dogs, and his legacy will live on through them. He was not just a breeder, but a caregiver who loved his dogs dearly. 

He is survived by his wife Rose; sister Janice (Keith) Fletcher; children Diane Hidlay, Brenda (Bob) Lechner, Robert (Rebecca) Hidlay III and Julie Hidlay; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and his six beloved Podengos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hidlay Sr and Mary Shoop Dietterick Hidlay as well as his late wife Mary Constance (Connie) Beaver Hidlay and her daughter Cathy Beaver.

Bud's absence will leave an unfillable void in our lives. Our family, his friends, and his canine companions will miss him dearly.

Bud's dedication and love will resonate in our hearts forever. Let us celebrate his life and honor his memory by continuing to cherish the lessons he shared with us.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
