March 23, 1944 – October 27, 2025
Robert “Bob” Elwood Bucher, Jr., passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, after a short illness, surrounded by family and friends.
Bob was born on March 23, 1944, to the late Robert Elwood Bucher, Sr., and Harriet Isenberger Bucher of Lancaster, PA. A lifelong learner, Bob graduated from Penn Manor High School in Millersville, PA in 1962 and Penn State University in 1967. After 43 years of dedication, Bob retired from the DuPont Company in 2010, where he flourished as a chemical engineer. A humble man by nature, he rarely spoke of the patents and awards he earned during his career, honors his family later discovered with pride.
Outside of work, Bob was a man of curiosity and adventure. He loved exploring the outdoors and often brought his children along on his expeditions, sharing with them a deep appreciation for nature and discovery. He was an accomplished scuba diver, angler, and boater. He especially treasured his many hunting trips with his close friend and ally, Frank Lobb.
Bob is survived by his wife, Gale Moore Bucher, his children Barbara Lee and husband, Michael Lee of Springboro, OH, Alison Bucher-Rubilar and husband, Gabriel Rubilar of Avondale PA, Rob Bucher III and partner Sarah Levine-Ramirez of Downingtown, PA, his sister-in-law Ann Bucher of Venice Beach, FL, and nieces Kirsten Erwin of Roswell, GA, Erin Harshman of North Port, FL, and Jennifer Edwards of Tampa, FL, and a cadre of cousins and friends who will remember his quiet wit, generous spirit, and steadfast heart. He is predeceased by his infant son, Joseph Bucher, his brother, James Bucher of Venice Beach, FL, and parents Robert Elwood Bucher, Sr., and Harriet Isenberger of Lancaster, PA.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at his home on November 8, 2025 from 2-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your local Food Bank.
