Robert's obituary

Robert John Bratcher

Bob was born May 18, 1945 at North Island Naval Air Station, San Diego, California to Ernest Arnold and Mally Elaine Bratcher. Bob graduated high school at Santa Ana Valley High School in California. He devoted his life to being a fireman when he joined California Division of Forestry (CDF) in 1965. He rose through the ranks maintaining his position as Captain for the majority of his career. Knowing he could do more to help, Bob became a paramedic in 1978. Two years later, Bob joined the ranks of Orange County Fire Department. Outside of his notable career, Bob and his wife, Diane Riebe, built a wonderful life with their children (3 sons and 1 daughter) residing in Santa Ana, California for many decades. Bob was heavily involved with their children in coaching Little League baseball for all 3 sons, Junior All American football for their oldest son, and was always known to stand on the sidelines of the high school football games for all 3 sons utilizing his medical training. Bob retired from the fire service in 2003 after an impressive 38 years of service to the citizens of Orange County. He enjoyed traveling with his wife after retirement to see his sons and grandchildren. Regardless of the best laid plans, life situations occurred causing Bob to move to Lake Brownwood, Texas in 2015 and to remarry in 2017. Although Bob lived in Texas, he still traveled to see his family in New Mexico and California. Bob loved spending hours researching ancestry for his family, and thoroughly enjoyed the ministry and church family at the Grace Lutheran Church in Brownwood, Texas.

Bob is survived by his three sons and eight grandchildren; Gregg of Santa Ana, California (Noah, Dana, and Nolan), Alan Bratcher and wife, Deanna of Long Beach, California, and Brian Bratcher and wife, Jennifer of Rio Rancho, New Mexico (Alec, Ethan, Brooke, Keira, and Zachary).
